What to See in Livigno: 10 Places Not to Miss

Panorama sul Lago di Livigno

Livigno is not just slopes and trails. In this valley at almost 1,800 metres, on the Swiss border, there's a lake closed by a 130-metre dam, historic churches, a museum that tells what life in the valley used to be like and one of the highest parishes in Europe. Here are 10 places to see, in summer and in winter.

1. The pedestrian centre

The heart of Livigno is its long pedestrian area with shops, bars and restaurants. Livigno is outside the customs territory, so spirits, perfume and cosmetics cost less: a stroll in the centre is a must in every season. From Ironwood Livigno it's about a 15-minute walk. For what's worth buying, see our duty-free shopping guide.

2. Lake Livigno and the Punt dal Gall dam

The lake is an artificial reservoir for hydroelectric power. At its northern end it is closed by the Punt dal Gall dam, about 130 metres high, right on the border: part of the lake lies in Switzerland. In summer you can walk or cycle around it and go out in a canoe.

3. MUS! Museum of Livigno and Trepalle

This ethnographic museum, in an old village house, tells what life in the valley was like when Livigno was isolated and people had to make do with little. There's also a free app with an audio guide in Italian, English and German. Opening times and prices change with the season, so check them on the museum's official website.

4. The church of San Rocco

Built between 1592 and 1624, the year it was consecrated, it is one of the village's historic churches. It stands in the southern part of Livigno, near Carosello 3000.

5. The church of Santa Maria Nascente

This is Livigno's parish church, in the centre of the village: a quiet stop during a walk around the shops.

6. The Livigno dairy (Latteria di Livigno)

At the dairy you can find out how milk is processed and how yogurt and cheese are made, on an audio-guided tour. It's a short visit, good for children and for bad-weather days too.

7. Trepalle, one of the highest parishes in Europe

On the road towards the Foscagno Pass you'll come to Trepalle, a hamlet of Livigno at about 2,069 metres, often described as the highest parish in Europe. The church of Sant'Anna and the houses scattered across the meadows are worth a stop, especially if you're arriving or leaving by car that way.

8. The view from Carosello 3000

The Carosello 3000 lifts take you up high in a few minutes: on skis in winter, and on foot or by bike in summer (roughly from 20 June to 13 September). From the top the view stretches over the Livigno valley and the surrounding mountains. From Ironwood Livigno, the San Rocco ski lift, about 100 metres away, links on skis to Carosello 3000.

9. Val Federia

A side valley of Livigno with trails climbing towards small high-altitude alpine lakes: a lovely hike if you want some quiet away from the centre.

10. The 2026 Olympic venues

In February 2026 Livigno hosted all the snowboard and freestyle skiing events of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics: at Livigno Snow Park, in the Mottolino ski area, and at the Aerials & Moguls Park, on the Carosello 3000 side. They are the same ski areas where people ski every winter.

What if it rains?

MUS! and the dairy are already two good ideas. The third is Aquagranda Active You, the village's sports and wellness centre, with pools, water slides for children, saunas and steam rooms. And if you'd rather stay in, the apartment has its own private infrared sauna and steam bath.
